Renovating the First Floor of Our Lodge
Thanks to donated materials, funds and volunteer labor, our original maple floors are being restored and the kitchen renovation is under way.
Over the past several weeks, King Lodge has been hard at work renovating the first floor of our building. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated materials, contributed financially, or volunteered their time and labor. None of this would be possible without your support.
There is still plenty of work ahead. This week, our original solid maple floors are being professionally sanded, refinished, and restored to their former beauty after serving the Lodge for generations.
The kitchen renovation is also making great progress. The framing is complete, drywall is up on the dining hall side, and we have nearly doubled our kitchen space, giving us the room we need to better serve our members and our community. The City will also be inspecting our work this week as we move through the permitting process.
The kitchen is the heart of many of our charitable efforts, but it is also one of the most expensive parts of this renovation. For years, we’ve prepared meals in a cramped 12-by-12-foot room with virtually no exhaust or ventilation. It worked, but anyone who has cooked in there during the summer knows just how challenging it could be. The new kitchen will include proper ventilation, exhaust, and cooling, creating a safer, more comfortable workspace while allowing us to better serve the community through our breakfasts, dinners, and charitable events.
If you received our fundraising letter in the mail, we hope you’ll consider making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us move one step closer to completing this project.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported King Lodge. We can’t wait to share the finished results with you.
