A Surprise Visit from Ketch Secor
An early morning phone call led to a tour of the Lodge for Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show and his bandmates, and the discovery that Ketch is a Mason himself.
What an incredible and unexpected morning at King Lodge. I got an early morning phone call to come let someone tour the lodge. It was none other than Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show and a few of his bandmates. We spent time walking through the building, sharing the history of King Lodge, and talking about the deep roots of Masonry in our region.
What made the visit even more meaningful was learning that Ketch himself is a Mason, having joined about five years ago and attending lodge in Nashville. We had the chance to briefly talk about our own Masonic journeys, our lodges, and what being a Mason truly means to us.
Ketch is exactly the kind of man you hope to meet humble, genuine, thoughtful, and deeply grounded. Beyond the music and accomplishments, he carries himself with a spirit of service and brotherhood that reflects the very best ideals of Freemasonry. A true philanthropist and an all-around solid guy.
Moments like today remind me how far-reaching and meaningful the bonds of Masonry can be. Brotherhood has a way of connecting people from all walks of life in the most unexpected ways.
For those unfamiliar, Ketch is the co-founder and frontman of Old Crow Medicine Show, the Grammy-winning Americana group best known for songs like “Wagon Wheel.” Which is one of my favorite songs as my staff can attest it is frequently sung or played in the office 🙂
