Master Mason degree - a lifelong goal for Bro. Rose

On the evening of December 3rd, 2024, King Lodge No. 461 F&AM in Bristol, Tennessee, held a special called meeting to raise Brother Brian Rose to the sublime degree of Master Mason. This moment marked the culmination of a lifelong goal for Bro. Rose, whose extensive family history in Masonry spans multiple generations. After the degree, Bro. Rose expressed his gratitude to all who attended, sharing that it was a proud moment for him to join the ranks of Master Masons, following the legacy of his forefathers.

The evening began with a wonderful homecooked meal and fellowship. Bro. Brian Rose was received into the Lodge with the respect and solemnity the occasion demands, and the degree was conferred by Brother Weston Leonard.

As part of the degree, the Lodge’s Chaplain, Bro. Robert Streeter, read from Matthew 11:32-36, reminding those present of the profound spiritual commitment and responsibility associated with the Master Mason degree. This scripture serves as a guiding light, emphasizing that Masonry calls for a steadfast commitment to integrity, humility, and brotherly love—values at the heart of the craft.

The Worshipful Master extended his gratitude to all in attendance, including the many visitors and the two Fifty-Year Masons, Bro. Jim Pepper and Bro. Frank Galloway. Brethren from eight different lodges were represented, demonstrating the strength of fellowship that binds the Masonic community together. Lodges in attendance included Sinking Creek Lodge No. 575, Zollicoffer Lodge No. 444, M.M. Martin Lodge No. 547, Whiteside Lodge No. 13, Johnson Lodge No. 274, Clay Lodge No. 386, Centennial Lodge No. 491, and Rhea Lodge No. 47.

Throughout the evening, brethren shared heartfelt remarks, reflecting on the significance of the occasion and extending their congratulations to Bro. Rose. These moments of fellowship underscored the unity and shared purpose that define Freemasonry.

As the Lodge closed in due form and harmony, the scripture reading from Matthew resonated deeply, reminding all present that to walk the path of a Master Mason is to dedicate oneself to the service of others and to live in accordance with the highest moral and spiritual principles.
